Shanghai International Arbitration (Hong Kong) Centre (abbreviated as "SHIAC HK") was established in 2024 by Shanghai International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (Shanghai International Arbitration Centre) as an arbitration institution in Hong Kong under Hong Kong law. It represents the latest achievement in arbitration and legal cooperation under the "Hong Kong-Shanghai Co-operation Conference Mechanism."
As a Hong Kong arbitration institution, SHIAC HK adopts internationally aligned case management practices and fee rules, offering world-class professional arbitration services while optimizing costs. With a global vision and rich expertise, it practices a service model of "Internal Integration and External Collaboration" for arbitration cases under the Hong Kong legal framework. SHIAC HK provides arbitration legal services that combine international concepts with Chinese wisdom, catering to global commercial entities.
In 2025, following confirmation by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government and the Supreme People's Court of the People's Republic of China, SHIAC HK was officially included in the "Whitelist" of institutions under the "Arrangement Concerning Mutual Assistance in Court-ordered Interim Measures in Aid of Arbitral Proceedings by the Courts of the Mainland and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region" and published on the Hong Kong Department of Justice’s official website. SHIAC HK was also formally included by the Hong Kong Department of Justice in the "Immigration Facilitation Scheme for Persons Participating in Arbitral Proceedings in Hong Kong," granting the authority to issue "Letter of Proof" for institutional arbitration cases. This provides entry facilitation for Mainland Chinese arbitrators attending cases in Hong Kong. SHIAC HK is also recognized as an official venue provider for interim arbitration proceedings. Additionally, it has been appointed as a designated institution for the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) Arbitrators Nomination Exercise (Hong Kong).
