On 2 April 2025, the Department of Justice of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region issued a notice entitled ‘Arrangement on Reciprocal Assistance in the Preservation of Arbitral Proceedings by the Courts of the Mainland and of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region - Outcome of Applications for Confirmation of Eligibility under Article II(1)’.

To meet the increasing demand for arbitration services in Hong Kong, the HKSAR Government has implemented and enhanced the ‘Pilot Scheme to Facilitate Admission of Persons Participating in Arbitral Proceedings in Hong Kong’ on a permanent basis with effect from 1 March 2025, which will be formally renamed as the ‘Scheme to Facilitate Admission of Persons Participating in Arbitral Proceedings in Hong Kong’ (hereinafter referred to as ‘Facilitation Scheme’).
